Things I do in my spare time:
Collegiate Quizbowl
I compete in the Queen's Quizbowl team (previously for UBC) in provincial and national tournaments. I can get most science Q's, some geo/history, but defer all painting Q's to my teammates...
Sailing & Rescue Instructor
I teach youth sailing skills and lead a water rescue team to attend to emergencies. When I get time, I like to "show how it's done on a Laser I".
Dodgeball
We compete in the Richmond and Vancouver Dodgeball Leagues (won our tier twice!). On the right is me catching a ball with my face in the final game. Yes, it was totally worth it.
Pioneering Minature Models
We build mini models of pioneering gadgets (tables, towers etc.), involving tying square and diagonal lashings using threads onto small skewers.
Scouting
I've been a Scouts Canada leader for 10+ years, teaching outdoor survival and leadership to youth. Our group has the most Queen's Venturer and Duke of Edinburgh recipients in all BC!
Hiking and Camping
I take advantage of west coast mountains to go on numerous hikes and camping trips. Pictured is on Skyline Loop looking at Mt. Rainier. Black Tusk is next on my list...
