Low-Cost Electrolarynx Device
Designed circuits, 3D modelled, and fabricated larynx voice assist device. Received 2018 UBC Surgery Research Day Plenary award (team of 7).
Ultrasound Physics Modelling
Developed and programmed MATLAB physics models to recognize acoustic shadows based on ultrasonic tissue interactions (team of 3, 1 publication).
Computer Science Education
Developed (python) programming toolkits to teach medical students how to process and analyze data, particularly for AI predictive analysis (team of 3).
Medical Device Prototyping
Designed & built electronics, mechanical models, and software for medical devices such as EKGs and lesion-recognition software (team of 1-2).
Hackathons/Programming Competitions
Competed in hackathon/programming events with physicians, designers, and engineers to build solutions (won 2015 Google Games with ENPH team).
Cellphone Microscope Prototype
3D-modelled, printed, and built electronics for cellphone microscope assembly for portable magnification of tissue samples (team of 3).
Optical Resonator Microcontroller
Designed/soldered electronics and developed PID algorithm (C) for controller circuit to optimize power of laser transmission devices (team of 2).
Geometric Prototyping of Photonic Devices
Simulated, developed, and assisted in experiments testing new waveguides to couple lasers in photonic devices (2 publications, team of 1-3).
ENPH Autonomous Robot Competition
Built navigation software (C) and laser edge-detection for ball-collecting, and target-shooting robot in engineering physics robot competition (team of 4).
Computer Architecture Design
Developed new branch-prediction algorithms (C) to improve cache performance and increase processor scheduling efficiency (team of 2)
Electromagnetic Path Rover
Build motor circuit and guidance program for self-driving rover following a path created by magnetic-field generating wire (team of 4).
Rapid Electromechanical Fabrication
3D modeled in SolidWorks, designed electronics for, 3D-printed, and laser-cut numerous small devices (e.g. lighting systems, anatomy models) (team of 1).
